Sicily jobs created – good news for the economy (31st Dec 06)

Property and real estate news - anything that benefits the local economy must good for Sicily and anyone living in Sicily. The recent news in the last 2 weeks is that more than 2,500 have been hired for call centre work via the Almaviva group.

The Sicily jobs will involve permanent contracts for the workers, many of whom work in palermo and Catania and several of whom were previously part-time workers.

Italy: Strikes to Affect Air Travel, Transit

Several strikes could disrupt travel in Italy this week. Air traffic controllers plan a nationwide four-hour strike the afternoon of Dec. 11. Strikes by rail and ferry workers could affect travel in and around Milan Dec. 14, Turin Dec. 14-15, and in Naples and between Sicily and the mainland Dec. 15. Public transit workers’ strikes could shut down bus service in Bologna Dec. 15 and in Florence Dec. 16.
