I hold an Indian passport (with ILR) and i am married to a British citizen…we have booked a holiday to Sicily in Italy. we have applied for a tourist visa for myself and paid £76 at the visa offce..as visa fee incl of service charge etc. but the guy at the visa office did not collect all the documents i took with me like bank statements and travel /stay confirmation so i was a bit confused….i have come home and looked on the website again and seen that a spouse of EU citizen does not require a visa!? Is this true? if it is why did the guy at the office not tell me? my husband was with me when i attended the appointment..i want to know- Does the spouse of an EU citizen who has indefinite leave to remain in the UK require a tourist visa for italy?

You DO need a schengen Visa to go to Italy,
BUT It is FREE to the spouse of a EU/UK citizen.
You do however have to pay an admin fee (not a visa fee) of 24 pounds.
It is also simplified process of application, and no need for bank statements etc.
contact the outsourcing agency that deals with most of the schengen visa’s
and no interview neededhttp://www.vfsglobal.com/applyforvisa.ht…http://it.vfsglobal.co.uk/ – italy visa from UKhttp://it.vfsglobal.co.uk/schengen.aspx – schengen information
The UK does not issue Residence cards for UK citizen spouses… so cant use that no visa required rule… (annoying isn’t it !)http://it.vfsglobal.co.uk/visa-categorie… – See Spouse application process
They respond fast to emails too..
Ask either your Travel Agent or the Company you have booked with. They should be able to give you a definitive answer.
