Is 2 Weeks Too Much Time To Travel In Sicily?

I’m thinking about spending two weeks in Sicily during late April -early May. Everyone i have told this thinks I am crazy. Is there enough to do to occupy 2 weeks? If so, what are your suggestions. Also, since I am a poor student, I will be taking the train and not renting a car. Is this feasible?

We will be going to Italy this year on our vacation. My husband was born about an hour outside of Rome. We plan on staying two weeks.
