Just wanted to let everyone know that Catania airport will be closed from 1600 of May 12th all through 1400 the 15th of May because of necessary repairs to its main runway.
Get in touch with your flight ticket providers for details to what happens to your flights - several are being re-directed to Palermo.
Unfortunately there is nothing on the Catania Airport Website but there is a small announcement on the Alitalia website.

Sicily’s Easter processions and celebrations are the most famous in Italy. They are the legacy of the 17th century Spanish domination of the island, and still bear a close resemblance to current Easter traditions in Spain.
"I Misteri" procession, in Trapani, represents the most important traditional event of the year for the local community, attracting many of visitors.

Our long-term project of giving loveSicily a permanent location for our cookery courses has taken a huge step forward last week.
After a long 10 months that the house was covered in scaffolding most of it is now off. While there is still some way to go this was undoubtetly a symbolic moment. We chose an ash brown colour for the outside walls that fits with the character of the house and the historical centre of Modica. It is also, we think, a perfect match to the brass pipes and air passages.

This week Sicily lost one of his greatest contemporary artists, Salvo Monica, a gentlemen admired by everyone for the beauty of his work and for the kindness of his heart.
He was born in Ispica in 1917 and studied art in Rome at the Scuola d'Arte della Medaglia and at the Accademia di San Luca. After the war, he returned back to Sicily and devoted his life to teaching at the Art School in Siracusa and in public schools.
