I suggest Sicily. For one thing, Sicily is warmer: in april the sea is already warm and one can swim. In the spring the country is full of flowered trees, and it is not so hot as in the summer. Sardinia has wonderful sea, but it is less warm, in April it is a little early to swim.
Then, Sicily has a lot of interesting places to see: Palermo and Catania are beautiful towns with lots of churches and palaces, the archaeological sites of Agrigento and Siracusa are wonderful. Some little towns like Noto or Monreale would deserve to be visited too.
Sardinia hasn’t got amazing towns, it doesn’t offer very much to see but see and beaches.
Sicily usually is, because is position in the Mediterranean sea, but Sardinia will be pleasant too.
Sicily will offer much more organized excursions, however, in both island if you feel to rent a Car you will be able to enjoy and discover the beauty of these places at its most. The territory is Mountainous and the public transportation will be to much time consuming.
I am not aware about a specific excursion in Sardinia, but in Sicily there are many depending your interests and preferences.
There is anything in particular you are looking for ? Here there are you links that can provide you more information and pictures of both island, give you information about History , Art & Culture, Culinary and thinks to do typical of them.
SARDINIA !!!!! in Sardinia too there are excursion, rent a car, Cagliari is fantastic, and in Sardinia there are the most beauty beachs of the world !.. is a paradise…
Whichever one is further above sea level, since it’s closer to the sun, so the sunlight and heat have less distance to travel.
